Welcome to Secret Recipes. As you all know, the authors you love know how to cook up some amazing romances. But, did you know that most of us also love to cook, bake and grill? Sometimes our characters even request that we make something they like just so we can share it with you, the readers. This is the place for you to find all of those recipes. So come on in and share a bite to eat with your favorite authors. Let’s get cookin’!
Today we are joined by Kathleen Ball, Romance author at Secret Cravings Publishing. She’s given us an actual recipe from one of her books. This delicious drink appears in Autumn’s Hope (Cowboy Seasons 2).
Now, check out this great smoothie recipe!
Autumn’s Cactus Smoothie
2 6-ounce containers of fat-free vanilla yogurt or 1/2 pint of frozen yogurt
2 small ripe bananas, peeled
2 cactus pears, peeled and quartered
In a blender, puree the banana and cactus pear.
Add yogurt, juice and ice cubes and blend until smooth.
Autumn Lavin is pregnant and alone but determined to succeed at making a
life for herself and child. She settles in the small town of Carlston,
Montana and pursues her dream of opening a vegetarian restaurant in the
heart of cattle country.
When hunky cattleman Jonas Barnes
learns that his contract to supply beef to the restaurant is
jeopardized, he confronts Autumn. Sparks ignite. Jonas is an injured
Army Veteran with too many scars, inside and out, to ever truly open his
heart. Autumn’s love wraps around him but he is afraid that once she
sees how damaged he really is, she’ll turn away.
Will Jonas succeed in turning the town against Autumn and her restaurant? Or will
the sexual attraction they share for each other lead to surrender and
the start of a new life?
This is book two of the Cowboy Seasons Series, the latest in a series of successful romance novels written by Kathleen Ball.
Shayna brought out the next course and Autumn ordered two fresh juices with cactus mixed in. Jonas gave her a mock look of outrage but smiled when he tasted it and Autumn’s heavy heart began to lighten. Jonas was a great dinner companion with his light conversation.
“Cowboys drink cactus after all,” she teased.
“Well, just don’t tell anyone. I’d hate to have to turn in my cowboy card.” Jonas winked at her.
A warm glow filled her and she couldn’t fight with herself anymore. “Thank you for being there for me. I don’t know what I would have done without you.”
Jonas glanced down at his plate. Maybe she talked out of turn. Reaching across the table she grasped his hand. “I’m sorry, I’ve made you uncomfortable.”
Jonas’ gaze met hers. He entwined his fingers with hers and the smoldering desire in his eyes intrigued her. Butterflies swarmed her stomach and a rush of anticipation tingled through her. The promise in his eyes was false, but it felt amazing to know he wanted her.
I know I’ll be checking out the book AND the smoothie. How ’bout you? Thanks so much, Kathleen. I hope you’ll stop by again soon. I look forward to more of your unique recipes to share with our readers.
